INSPIRE : FUTURE OF ENGINEERING

  • The engineering sector faces a significant challenge in attracting and nurturing the next generation of talent. Many high school students lack exposure to engineering role models and real-world insights into what it means to be an engineer, especially in the defence industry. This gap can lead to a disconnect between young students and the opportunities available in this crucial field, limiting their potential to contribute to Australia's engineering landscape.

  • The Inspire pillar of DEGSA is committed to bridging this gap by using our greatest asset—our network of graduate engineers. We aim to increase the visibility of young engineers in high schools, providing students with role models who can offer guidance, share their experiences, and inspire them to pursue engineering careers. Through targeted initiatives, we are creating a safe and supportive environment where students can explore engineering and envision themselves as part of the future workforce.

CONNECT TO A GRAD

The Connect to a Grad program is a unique opportunity for high school students to receive one-on-one mentoring from a graduate engineer in the defence industry. Students can submit an application to request a half-hour session with a graduate in a specific area of interest. Whether you're curious about mechanical engineering, software development, or systems engineering, our graduates are here to share their knowledge, answer your questions, and help you take the next step toward your engineering career.

At DEGSA, we are eager to partner with high schools across South Australia to bring our graduate engineers into the classroom. We believe that early exposure to real-world engineering experiences can spark a lifelong interest in the field. Our graduates are ready to engage with students, answer their questions, and serve as role models for the engineers of tomorrow. If you're a teacher or school administrator interested in this initiative, we would love to hear from you.
